  • Student WILL be encouraged to write examples of sentences using these tools and send me their best few sentences for feedback and possible posting on the website

  • Student CAN ALSO use these tools within a poem or creative piece they write, and send me that piece as well

HOW TO WRITE A STORY

Create your outline with a graphic organizer including elements like characters, setting, rising action. 
  • Focus on plot structure, character, setting, theme

  • Use a graphic organizer to structure ideas

  • Student will not write an entire story during the course, but will create the outline, basic plot, and story elements so he/she can continue writing and finish their story after completion of the course

Infuse the two and deepen your walk with Jesus.
  • Focus is on Jesus! And on using descriptive language, mainly imagery

  • Example of what a person might have on their list: I'm thankful for my home, food, my aunt. Here is the list using descriptive language: I'm thankful for the sunshine that blazes into my room every morning to wake me up, for the drippy cheese pizza loaded with tomatoes and onions that my dad surprised me with, for the big smiles and big hugs my aunt gives me as she squeezes me tightly

HOW TO WRITE A COLLEGE APPLICATION ESSAY

Follow the format to create something excellent.
  • If student does not know the essential elements of writing and how to use these elements in essay writing, I highly recommend taking a 5-paragraph essay writing course first. They need to know these things BEFORE taking this course. This course directly uses those skills.

  • Student will be shown how to write a college application essay step-by-step.

  • Student will learn exactly what colleges are looking for in student essays.

  • Student will learn how to communicate their voice, beliefs, and personality within their essay.

  • Student will take the skills they learn in this course and apply them to the particular topic or prompt of which they are responding to for their college application essay.
